From Comparison to Celebration
Comparison dressed up as inspiration.
In theory, being around other women should be motivating. In practice, it can trigger imposter syndrome.
“She’s so confident! I wish I could be.”
“She’s already done so much, I've barely done anything.”
It’s easy for ambition to lead to self-critique. The line between aspiration and inadequacy gets blurry. When you're getting out into the world to meet people, network, try new things, or grow your community, it can feel overwhelming hearing everyone's introduction.
What we don't know is every mountain they have climbed, or are currently climbing. We don't know their hardships, their dark days, their sacrifices, or their own self-perceived inadequacies. Unfortunately, we don't always get shown true colors because people want to present their best side to attract friends, business, or referral partners.
This leaves us with an impression lacking of struggle. Like social media, we only see people's highlight reel. And this is one of the biggest reasons social media creates such high mental and emotional health issues - there's no commiserating through a struggle. We assume everyone's life is better than ours.
How to get from Comparison → to Celebration?
Instead of measuring yourself against others, there's space to start using reflection for amplification. What is it about someone's story that elicits those feelings of 'less than'? And is there an opportunity to be curious and connect with someone versus continued separation?
Beyond self reflection, the most powerful experience that fuels a shift towards connection between women is shared problem solving that includes story-sharing and visibility: circles where women work together, speak their truths, and mirror back each others strengths. This happens in safe spaces where everyone's on an equal playing ground. There's a sense of togetherness or working together to achieve a common goal.
These experiences are about dismantling the hierarchy of “who’s ahead” and replacing it with “we’re each carrying part of the light!”. When we're moving our bodies, like in sports, in a workout or movement class, we're all contributing to the whole atmosphere. The participation commands the most connection and positive outlook. It's because physical 'struggle' unites us mind, emotion, body, and spirit. Feelings that can't be replaced by just using our minds together.
Movement is the easiest way to align into a shared vision or goal. Everyone joins for the experience of it - agreeing to show up as is. Who is "the most ahead" or "knows the most people" doesn't even exist...can't even exist!
So what can you do to move with others?
Is it a pick up league for your favorite sport or a sport you've been wanting to try?
How about a class? Try a drop-in to test the waters!
What about going to a space where movement is happening and you can observe before taking the plunge? Like a roller skating rink or sports field?
That's why our offers mostly include movement AND something. When we move, we feel. We tune in. We feel joyful and we are more creative. Deepened connections happen. Stories get shared, imposter syndrome disappears. Every experience we've created is created to elicit change, as fast as possible, based on human design, psychology, and experience. We truly believe and set the stage for you to go farther, together!
